Everything You Need To Know About Blackwater Creek Ranch - Established 1915
During the summer of 1900, the U.S. Forest Service constructed a wagon bridge at Blackwater, the first bridge built by the government on the forest reserve. Previously, in 1899 a ranger cabin had been constructed called the "Blackwater Ranger Cabin". Both where destroyed by fire in 1905. In the summer of 1915, "Blackwater Camp" as it was first known, was established when Bob Rumsey and George T. Beck were issued a permit at Blackwater for a tourist resort. Bob Rumsey, a graduate of Yale University later ran for and was elected to the State Senate in 1935. Bob's father, Bronson Rumsey was associated with "Buffalo Bill" Cody in the founding of the historical town of Cody, Wyoming. Since it's founding in 1915, Blackwater Creek Ranch has been fulfilling the vacation dreams of guests from all over the world. We are nestled deep in the mountains of the spectacular Shoshone National Forest, right in between Blackwater Creek and the Shoshone River offering a beautiful, peaceful, and private setting.
